How do you open a resturant? Anyone done this?

I am considering opening a resturant but what steps are required to get it started? Where do you register for a license? What paperwork is required to open a resturant? After this do you just buy the land, hire an architect, construction company, plumbers, electricians, etc? How do you convince a bank to give you a loan for this?

You go to a CPA and he/she will help you get your license. Find a building that is in good shape. get your furniture, coolers, stoves. all the equipment you need. and then find companies to supply your foods,napkins, silverware etc. It is hard to get going if you start by building first.You should be able to get a small business loan.

You have to write a Business Forecast of the amount of money you think you will make. To do this you must know your Cost Of Goods Sold, what ingredients go into each dish, their cost. There are many things to include: initial start up cost, inventory… Show the bank on paper how you will be able to repay the loan.
You must know your local health department requirements, building codes, zoning restrictions, liquor license ? , business license, state and local taxes, employees?. It sounds complicated, but is managable.
