If you’re in a hurry then Gatwick to Glasgow by air is probably fastest. It’s motoway almost all the way from Brighton to Gatwick, then train or car at the Glasgow end.

To take the train would cost you an awful lot of money at short notice and would take for example from 12.49 leaving Brighton with three changes getting to Ayr at 20.59 so nine hours and ten minutes, however if you can get to Gatwick Airport, which is very easy from Brighton as they are on the same train line then you can fly to Glasgow Prestwick airport which takes 1 hour and thirty five minutes, you would have to take the train to Ayr from there but that should only take nine minutes from Prestwick airport station. I think you will find that getting to Gatwick and then flying will be your best bet. Hope I have been of some help. Going by road that distance is bound to take at least eleven or twelve hours so I wouldn’t drive and a coach will probably take about sixteen.
