I asked that question because i was seeking home owners insurance with another company and they asked me that question. My electrical outlets in the house are 3 prong and when I looked in the panel box on the switches I saw that it said 120/240v I am not sure if that is what I should be looking at as far how much amps of power is coming in. I just wanted to know how what answer i would give the insurance agent as to what type of wiring was in the home. I may just call an electrician. Thanks for all the answers thus far.

For insurance purposes I would surmise they want to know if you have aluminum or copper wire in your home. (Many homes have aluminum coming into their home, not a big deal. They don’t like Aluminum used inside the home.)
To know for sure you would have to remove your circuit breaker panel to easily view all of the wire connections. Which in your case would be better left to an electrician.
If they want the amps, that should be on the main double (connected) breaker. Common ones are 200 and 100, while a really old home may have only 60 amps. Its possible this may be written on the meter outside, but I don’t ever recall looking for that.
