What should I do now?
I’m a 22 year old college graduate, and I can’t find a job of any sort. About the only thing available to me is working at Wal-mart or McDonald’s for minimum wage. I could do this without a degree, or a high school diploma for that matter. I feel like I’ve wasted time I can’t get back on a useless degree. I admit this is no one’s fault but my own, I shouldn’t have listened to those teachers and guidance counselors in high school. College is just a scam, unless you’re going into engineering, a medical field, or you are planning to become an educator of some sort.
I’m thinking about becoming an electrician, would this help me actually make more than minimum wage?

My husband was the same way. He got a bachelor’s in 2002 and has yet found a job that will utilize it. He now works at a call center for Sprint. Being an electrician would make more than minimum, if you can find someone to apprentice you. You also need to take into consideration that that profession relies a lot on the housing market which is in a horrible slump. You might want to wait until people are building again. Until then keep your fingers crossed and keep praying. Maybe what you got a degree in isn’t what God had intended for you.

I totally understand what you mean! I never went to college but a lot of my friends did. I don’t think college is a waste of time…you become a more well rounded person with a college education. That’s the most important thing in life. I just didn’t have the option to go (family/ health problems) . Anyways, many of my friends couldn’t find jobs after graduating college and were frustrated just like you. Since I started working right after high school, I have a lot of experience and get paid really good now…and most of my friends are currently working at minimum wage jobs and they have a degree. You are just going to have to start somewhere and then move up the ladder.
