Megabeth asked:
im making a frosting and the recipe calls for 2 1/2 cups of whipping cream and then some confectioners sugar. then it says to beat it until soft peaks form, not stiff ones. i dont have an electric mixer….is that alright?

If you have manually powered mixer (egg beater) you get soft peaks with relative ease but you can also use a wire whisk.

Hi!
Yes you can use a wire whisk, but your arm may feel like it’s gonna fall off because you have to whisk it really fast. Have fun!

I would say that unless you can spin the manual beater fast , its not going to work. Or it may just take longer. It may work.

IT’S ALOT EASIER

No You can use what’s called a balloon whisk . 2.5 C of whipping cream will yield 5C of whipped cream . As others have mentioned your arms will get tired .Go to baking911.com for instructions on how to use a ballon whisk properly or you could just go to a thrift shop and spend three bucks and buy a used electric mixer

your in for a work out…
a whisk has been used for centuries before the electric mixer.
You should be able to find an electric for under $20.00.
you will have to beat the cream by hand for close to 10 minuets.
PS compliements to Rob B
I have compleatly forgot about the hand mixer.
Where to find one today
Bye I’m off to search the web “I can’t live without one”.

Megabeth: If you have megamuscles you can use a whisk or a hand beater, a little easier.
