What is the best kind of electric guitar?

I am 16 yrs old and I am in the market for an electric guitar for under $300 dollars, but that obviously plays well. i love banging and jamming and sliding on guitars, so keep that in mind. any suggestions? and what is the best kind of amp to have?

check out zzounds. they got good stuff.or you could go to craigslist.i bought a new gibson for $500 on their that retailed $1000.and i see peavey 6505+ stacks on theri for $700 when they retail for $1500.

Schecter is THE BEST. you can get them cheap and dude they are so great! they have a one of a kind tone and i have been recording with schecter for yrs…. excellent guitar, great price, smart choice.
