Lights go out but no tripped breaker?

JT asked:

The power company came out this morning and told me everything is ok on their end. He said the problem is not the power companies fault.

Last night the power went out in my den for about 5 minutes. The t.v. ceiling fan, and aquarium. I checked the circuit breaker and none were tripped. It was very late so I went to bed.
Now today no lights have went completely out but I can tell there is a bad connection somewhere because the t.v. has blinked and I can hear the aquarium pump stop and start again. It does it very quickly.
I plan to call an electrician soon but it’s a wait until I get paid Friday thing.
Just curious if anyone may give me an idea of what may be wrong.
Something I can or should do before I can get a pro to come look at it.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE
My wife just told me about this morning. (I work midnights).. She said half of the house had no power this morning and half was ok.
Right now everything in the entire house is ok. I know it’s not a ghost and it’s not going to “heal” itself.
Ok. Just wanted to post that it was not only the den. It’s half of the house that goes out from time to time. But rarely starting last night.

electrical question?

mtm1922 asked:

When my lateral lines were being installed, the contractor cut the electric to my barn. Approx 500 feet between the originating electrical area to the barn and it is broken in about a 20 foot section, how can I find each end in the break to repair? I have used a metal detector and can not locate either end, the contractor installed additional dirt over the land area to grade everything off.

How can I perfectly increase my electric bill?

yoBOSS asked:

I just want to aggravate my stepdad.

The lights are always turned on, the television and computer is also turned on for more than 12 hours, what else should I do to increase the electric bill?

All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

skuleathome asked:

My electric meter is just outside the bedroom doors and buzzes especially loudly at night. It buzzes all the time, but ‘clunks’ (loud enough to wake us) at about midnight and again at about 8am, presumably from when the previous occupants had night storage heaters (?). Do you think this means the meter is dangerous? It’s the part which belongs to the electricity company; not the consumer unit, which makes the noise. Should I ask an electrician about it at my own expense or the electricity company since it’s their equipment? Thanks.

Coondog asked:

New construction, but house is finished. Do I run it from an existing box in the attic? Off another ceiling fan?
